After our time in Wisconsin Dells (see previous post), we went to Chicago for a night. We went to go to the Taste of Chicago since my parents had never been. We made a stop at the American Girl Doll store for Nina and the Lego Store for Alek. Then we made our trek down to the park to try some food. The best was probably some red beans and rice with jerk chicken. The gyro was pretty good too as were the homemade, hot potato chips. All right, it was all good and the kids did a great job walking.

After we finished in Chicago we drove back home and my parents stayed for another week. The kids had fun taking Grandpa and Grandma raspberry picking, to the beach and celebrating the 4th at our house.

This is a classic Alek expression. If he has something he thinks is important to say, he'll hold his finger up to let you know that his statement needs to be heard. Here it was obviously something to do with the s'mores.

One of our firework displays. I'm not sure if this is the one that shot between the neighbors houses or not. We don't have a picture of the one that shot up over our garage, barely missing the roof and into the backyard. We could also see the professional and much safer show from the street. So fun to have the 4th from your driveway.

This is the first year Alek has really enjoyed the waves and water. We had to drag him out when it was time to go.

Sounds like the kids did really great on the trip! You got some really great pics too!
I can't take credit for too many of those. My dad does a good job, especially when it's his grandkids that he's taking pictures of.
